About WÆSTM
WHO WE ARE
/wahːstm/
Old English meaning growth, fruitfulness & abundance
WÆSTM is not a blog. It’s not a magazine. It’s a platform for the fat community — to share ideas, explore fat issues, and appreciate art.
We assume our readers already understand that fatphobia is real, systemic, and deadly. We’re here to go deeper.
We publish essays, reporting, poetry, visual art, and hybrid forms. We are seeking to promote fat liberation in all forms of media and value any and all contributions.
What we Publish

Essays & Criticism
Long-form essays that analyse culture, politics, and lived experience. We love theory, but we also love personal storytelling.

Reporting & Investigations
Investigative pieces that expose systems of oppression and hold institutions accountable. We appreciate primary and peer research.

EMBODIED PRACTICE
Advice and guides on living in, enjoying and moving fat bodies. Share skills and knowledge with the community.

Visual Essays & Art
Photography, poetry, creative writing, illustration, film, and visual storytelling that centres fat bodies and fat joy.
Our Editorial Values
We compensate Our Contributors

We Take Our Time
We don’t chase virality or publish on a rigid schedule. We work with writers to publish sustainably.
We Centre Fat Voices
The majority of our contributors are fat and content focuses on topics relevant to Fat Liberation.
We Value Our Craft
